Job Description:

MedStar Health is seeking an Office Assistant II to perform a variety of clerical and patient care duties essential to the daily operations of the assigned department. Duties may include patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, charge entry and reconciliation, and providing front office support.

The role will also involve coordinating with medical teams, handling patient inquiries, and assisting with medical record operations, all while maintaining a professional and efficient office environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Interaction: Greet, register, and assist patients both in person and over the phone, triaging inquiries and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Administrative Support: Perform patient updates, registrations, scheduling of appointments, and insurance verifications in the practice management or electronic health record system.
  • Insurance and Billing: Verify insurance information, ensure accurate claims submissions, and manage patient payments and payment reconciliations.
  • Medical Records and Documentation: Maintain and organize medical and financial paperwork, assist with referrals, and monitor patient files for accuracy.
  • Office Coordination: Manage supplies, restock materials, and ensure that patient care areas and waiting rooms are clean and organized.
  • Team Leadership: Assist in training and overseeing team members in the absence of supervisory staff. Resolve conflicts and guide associates effectively.
  • Specialized Support: In outpatient settings, assist with scheduling and document scanning; in physician centers, register patients for various specialties and coordinate scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Experience: 3-4 years of medical office experience in a rehabilitation setting or a combination of education and experience. Experience with MedStar National Rehabilitation Network (MNRN) is a plus.
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong customer service abilities.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work independently in a dynamic environment.
