Overview:

Responsible for front and back office procedures. Also assists Physicians and Nurses with medical examination of patients.

Responsibilities:

Triage patients arriving for appointment.

Obtain patient vital signs such as height, weight, temperature and blood pressure.

Reconcile patient medication list

Chaperon when appropriate and assist during minor surgeries and diagnostic procedures.

Maintain clean, well-equipped examination rooms; clean and sterilize instruments

Stock examination rooms and triage area with patient care supplies.

Assist with inventories and reordering of supplies as directed

Complete Allscripts tasks as directed daily

QA patient charts prior to their appointment

Review patient lab results, discuss abnormal findings with the physician and follow up with patient in regard to treatment as necessary

Assist with facilitating patient referrals and appointments with specialists.

Prepare patient education and prenatal packets

PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.

Other duties as needed:

Prints daily/weekly schedules and distributes.

Copies medical records.

Provides back-up coverage as medical assistant in other OB/GYN divisions as directed

Phone triage.

Send Records to L+D at 28-37 weeks as directed

Prepare education packets.

Performs other duties as assigned, according to the individual departmental needs.

Qualifications:

Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program. Equivalent military training will be accepted. Must have certification (CMA or RMA) or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment. Completion of BLS class and re-certify every 2 years.

Previous medical office experience with relevant functions in a doctor’s office preferred. Must have some working knowledge of computers. Customer service-oriented individual is required.
