Tax Preparer / Bookkeeper
Position Summary: We are an established public accounting firm seeking a skilled Tax Preparer/Bookkeeper to assist our team. This role involves preparing, completing, and submitting tax returns for our diverse clientele. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of bookkeeping practices and tax laws, excellent attention to detail, and superb customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and complete individual and corporate tax returns accurately.
- Use tax preparation software to calculate tax obligations.
- Ensure all tax forms and records are kept in order and maintained systematically.
- Determine possible tax deductions and tax credits to minimize client's financial obligations.
- Stay updated on all current tax laws, regulations, and potential deductions.
- Assist clients with tax planning and provide financial advice.
- Handle day-to-day bookkeeping duties including updating financial transactions, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports.
- Examine accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain relationships with clients by providing effective and efficient services.
- Resolve any discrepancies or errors in the tax documents promptly and professionally.
- Associates' or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent field.
- 2+ years’ experience of tax preparation for individuals and small businesses
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Up-to-date knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and tax planning measures.
- Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and clients.
