Compliance Operations Manager, AWS Customer Channel Operations

The Compliance Operations Manager on AWS's CCTech Customer Channel Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring that web and email marketing operations within Marketo and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) adhere to global regulations, industry standards, and AWS policies.

This role oversees compliance operations, including adherence to GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and CASL regulations, while ensuring web compliance standards across AEM-managed content.

The Compliance Operations Manager will monitor compliance workflows, conduct regular audits, manage risk, and support the configuration of data retention rules and preference center settings. Key responsibilities include overseeing consent management systems, ensuring proper data handling, and maintaining secure access controls within Marketo and AEM.

The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including legal, to integrate compliance requirements into platform enhancements, ensuring that content aligns with accessibility standards, copyright laws, and privacy regulations. Leveraging automation tools, they will streamline compliance processes, generate reports, and keep documentation up to date to provide insights and transparency into compliance health.

Key job responsibilities
  • Develop and implement compliance strategies and processes for the mar-tech stack in accordance with relevant regulations such as GDPR, the CAN-SPAM Act, CASL, and other applicable laws for both web and email marketing.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations and industry best practices related to web and email marketing compliance, incorporating them into processes and procedures.
  • Work closely with the product development team to integrate compliance requirements into the design and development of new features and enhancements for both Marketo and AEM.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of web and email marketing practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to review and interpret legal requirements, providing guidance to internal stakeholders on web and email compliance matters.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on web and email marketing compliance issues, offering training and support to internal teams as needed.
  • Monitor and respond to compliance-related inquiries and issues from customers, partners, and regulatory authorities for both web and email channels.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of compliance processes and systems across web and email.
  • Communicate compliance-related updates and initiatives to stakeholders across the organization, including executive leadership.

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)
  • Experience managing or working within cross-functional marketing and creative teams
  • 5+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
  • In-depth understanding of Marketo and AEM, with experience in configuring workflows, managing access controls, and implementing compliance features.- Knowledge of project management tools
  • Experience equally comfortable building strategic marketing plans and executing at a tactical level
  • Advanced Knowledge of Compliance in Digital Marketing: Familiarity with specific compliance requirements for both web and email marketing, including GDPR, CAN-SPAM, CASL, CCPA, and accessibility standards such as WCAG.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $70,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $151,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
