We have an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Eagle Creek Dam Operator to join our team!

The successful candidate will adjust reservoir levels through established operating parameters, perform light maintenance, and monitor security of the Eagle Creek Dam on behalf of the Department of Public Works (DPW) through an operations and maintenance contract with Citizens Water Authority Inc.

Minimum Hourly Wage: $25.04 (Grade 6)

Responsibilities:

  • Independently evaluates and predicts dam release rate requirements in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Operates (6) dam tainter gates to maintain reservoir levels in accordance with the Seasonal Pool Elevation Policy. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining accurate daily records in logbook.
  • Assists in performance testing and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment. Measures & records piezometer data at (3) designated ground water monitoring wells. Understand and follow the Incident and Emergency Action Plan (IEAP) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for this facility. Monitor site security system for trespassers in coordination with Belmont Control room and IMPD (west district). Assists in updating SOP’s and other training materials as requested.
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to create work orders for corrective maintenance repairs required to maintain continuous operation of the dam.
  • Works overtime as needed outside normal working hours to monitor and or respond during inclement weather.
  • Performs other duties and/or activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of safety rules, practices, and an ability to provide instructions as required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license to perform site inspections as required
  • Must be able to work outdoors during adverse weather conditions and to traverse difficult terrain as needed
  • Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for maintenance management and day to day word processing requirements
  • Proficient use of MS Office including word processing
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
  • 1 to 3 years of experience or knowledge of flood control dam operation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of software programs such as, INFOR EAM and HACH WIMS
  • Knowledge of wastewater and storm water collection systems
