Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist.The Research Scientist will work closely with Principal Investigators (PIs) in the Division of Environmental Pediatrics within the Department of Pediatrics, leading and supporting a variety of epidemiology projects focused on the impact of environmental factors on children's health and development.Under the general guidance of Dr. Trasande, the successful candidate will demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning and executing high-impact research in the fields of epidemiology and environmental public health.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead or participate in all phases of epidemiological studies, including protocol development, surveillance plans, and complex analysis strategies.
- Define research areas and select problems for investigation through related studies or smaller-scale projects.
- Make decisions and provide recommendations that significantly influence the direction of scientific research.
- Contribute to the development of new methods for extracting, coding, and analyzing data for multi-site studies.
- Collaborate daily with research coordinators, project leads, investigators, and data analysts to implement retrospective and prospective study protocols.
- Develop and manage the recruitment process for studies, ensuring proper inclusion/exclusion criteria, informed consent, and IRB documentation are met.
- Oversee biomonitoring projects and conduct both routine and complex laboratory experiments with minimal supervision.
- Write interim and final reports, collaborating closely with internal and external PIs and co-investigators.
- Lead and/or coordinate meetings with project teams, including external collaborators.
- Oversee and coordinate technical, administrative, and public health aspects of studies, serving as an information resource for staff and collaborators on research projects and surveillance activities.
- Coordinate with federal and state agencies to support epidemiological investigations and participate in high-priority studies and workgroups.
- Work independently, providing supervision, training, and technical support to research staff.
- Make significant contributions to scientific papers as an author or co-author.
- Process complex data and conduct statistical analyses using advanced software such as SAS, R, and STATA.
- Develop and write funding proposals for pilot and ancillary studies within larger ongoing projects.
- Assist with grant proposal development for federal and non-federal organizations, including writing and organizing responses to Requests for Proposals.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Medical degree or Masters in Public Health with at least 2 years of research experience. Preferred experience in Epidemiology, Environmental Epidemiology, or a related field.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $52,649.99 - $60,949.05 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
