We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Higher Education industry based in LANSING, Michigan. The position involves maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling bank statements, and overseeing accounts payable and receivable.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions efficiently
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records
  • Maintain and manage the General Ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date
  • Responsible for the preparation and posting of Journal Entries as part of the monthly close process
  • Utilize QuickBooks for various accounting tasks and financial management
  • Participate in Human Resources (HR) Administration tasks, including HR policy enforcement, recruiting, and onboarding
  • Review and monitor customer accounts, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries related to their accounts
  • Ensure all accounting practices align with the regulatory standards of the Higher Education industry
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve overall organizational goals.

  • Possess knowledge and experience in Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Familiar with Accounts Receivable (AR) operations
  • Experience with Bank Reconciliations is necessary
  • Proficiency in managing General Ledger
  • Capable of preparing and recording Journal Entries
  • Ability to handle Month End Close activities
  • Proficiency in using QuickBooks software
  • Experience in Human Resources (HR) Administration
  • Knowledgeable about HR Policy
  • Experience in Recruiting processes
  • Familiarity with Onboarding procedures
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in business matters
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
