Land Development Intern – Summer 2025

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s South Portland, Maine office is seeking a Land Development Intern to join our team for Summer 2025. Interns will work on civil engineering projects and will learn technical skills and computational software.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff to advance projects in a timely manner
  • Visit sites to review and document conditions for any phase of project development from pre-planning to construction
  • Perform engineering calculations with support of engineering staff
  • Contribute to developing preliminary design plans
  • Contribute to developing contract documents including specifications
  • Assist with developing engineer’s estimates
  • Assist with preparing reports, memorandums, and data documentation
  • Support other services areas within the firm, including natural resources, geomatics (survey), hydraulics/hydrology modeling, transportation planning, and highway design
Skills and Attributes
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail.
  • Team oriented with capability to work in teams or independently.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
