Land Development Intern – Summer 2025
Overview:
ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s South Portland, Maine office is seeking a Land Development Intern to join our team for Summer 2025. Interns will work on civil engineering projects and will learn technical skills and computational software.
Responsibilities- Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff to advance projects in a timely manner
- Visit sites to review and document conditions for any phase of project development from pre-planning to construction
- Perform engineering calculations with support of engineering staff
- Contribute to developing preliminary design plans
- Contribute to developing contract documents including specifications
- Assist with developing engineer’s estimates
- Assist with preparing reports, memorandums, and data documentation
- Support other services areas within the firm, including natural resources, geomatics (survey), hydraulics/hydrology modeling, transportation planning, and highway design
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail.
- Team oriented with capability to work in teams or independently.
- Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
