We are looking for a skilled Cable Technician to join our team in Concord, Massachusetts. The chosen candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of equipment, interpreting system maps, and ensuring all tasks comply with safety regulations.
This role will also involve responding to emergency outages and undertaking special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment such as bucket trucks, digger trucks, backhoes, and wire/cable pulling equipment.
- Ascend poles and use aerial lift equipment safely and efficiently.
- Use electrical testing/diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Interpret system maps and records to support line operations.
- Work safely in confined underground spaces and handle energized electrical equipment.
- Direct lower-level line workers when working with high voltage lines.
- Ensure all tasks comply with established safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with colleagues in other departments to facilitate line construction and repair activities.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring they are in proper working order.
- Respond to emergency outages after-hours to restore power and repair electrical infrastructure.
- Undertake special projects as assigned. • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Cable Technician
- Proficient in working with electrical systems
- Experience with high voltage systems
- Must possess a strong understanding of electrical principles
- Capable of troubleshooting and repairing cable systems
- Ability to work safely in various environments, including high locations and confined spaces
- Must be able to read and understand technical diagrams and manuals
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work in different shifts and during weekends if required
- Proven record of reliability and punctuality
- High school diploma or equivalent is a requirement, higher technical education is a plus
- Must have a driver's license and reliable transportation.
