Midwest Center for Youth and Families is seeking a Teacher to join the Education Department!
Available Shifts: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm
Midwest Center for Youth and Families (a subsidiary of UHS) has been in operation since 1997, serving youth across the country that are in need of psychiatric treatment for variety of mental health issues. The Midwest Center is a respected healthcare provider, fully accredited, 74-bed private, residential treatment facility with locations in Valparaiso and Kouts, IN.We are dedicated to care of the hearts and minds of our patients with compassion and superior quality behavioral healthcare services through our full-immersion Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for children and adolescents ages 10 - 18 who struggle with emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges.

Position Summary:
The Teacher maintains professional classroom setting, accurate records and interacts professionally with staff and patients daily under the supervision of the Director of Education.ization review with third party payor sources.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare multi-modal lesson plans daily with Indiana State Academic Standards.
- Interprets & follows both an IEP and Treatment Plan for students.
- Completes & maintains current lesson plan book & grade book, charting & other paperwork per policy
- Completes charting & paperwork within time frames.
- Assists students to develop positive self esteem & positive peer relations.
- Plans & supervises educational outings, fieldtrips and special events.
- Knowledge of various disabilities & their impact on learning, as well as effective instructional strategies for students with special needs
- Patience, empathy and genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
- Collaborate with general teachers, other special needs staff, & related service providers to ensure cohesive & inclusive learning experience for students
- Communicate regularly with parents &/or guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.

Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: Previous experience working with students with special needs is highly desirable.
Requirements: Must be 21 years oldLicensure/Certifications: Indiana Teacher's License is required.
