Job Description:

The Business Intelligence Specialist will be responsible for managing and optimizing data management, analytics, and reporting solutions to support a federal agency’s mission goals and objectives. This role involves overseeing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise business intelligence (BI) solutions, including Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in business intelligence tools, and a track record of supporting data-driven decision-making. The position is a hybrid role with 2-3 days of onsite work required weekly.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data management strategies, analytics solutions, and reporting tools to meet the agency’s mission goals.
  • Design, create, and maintain dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights and support decision-making processes.
  • Provide solutions for data storage and repository management, ensuring efficient and reliable access to business intelligence.
  • Manage the design, development, and implementation of enterprise BI reporting and ETL processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of BI reports and data integration processes.
  • Conduct or coordinate testing of BI tools and reports to ensure they meet defined requirements and user needs.
  • Oversee the transition of BI solutions to Operations and Maintenance (O&M), ensuring they align with the agency’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for BI systems, addressing any issues and ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Disseminate information about BI tools, reports, and metadata enhancements to relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze current trends in business intelligence and provide recommendations for action based on data insights.
  • Identify and analyze industry or geographic trends that impact business strategy and decision-making.
  • Maintain a library of model documents, templates, and reusable knowledge assets to support BI initiatives.
  • Ensure that knowledge assets are updated and accessible to support ongoing BI projects and activities.
  • Manage the timely flow of business intelligence information to users and ensure it meets their needs.
  • Coordinate with business units and stakeholders to understand their BI needs and provide tailored solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with preferred study in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the business intelligence analysis field; 5 years of relevant work experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Proven experience with business intelligence tools, ETL processes, and data analytics.
  • Strong skills in creating and managing dashboards and reports.
  • Ability to synthesize business intelligence data and trends to support strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in managing and transitioning BI solutions to operations and maintenance.
