Every moment of connection with a child in their first 1,000 days of life has an impact on their developing brain. Put your passion into action as an Infant and Toddler Early Learning Partner and join a community dedicated to supporting children during their first years of life.

As an Infant and Toddler Early Learning Partner, you will support the ongoing development of children's early reading, math, and social-emotional skills. Working closely with a team at an Early Head Start or childcare site, you’ll enhance daily activities and help our youngest learners build skills and experiences needed to nurture their developing brains.

You will also support caregivers of young children, including parents, guardians, families, and early childhood educators. With great training and on-site coaching, we’ll prepare you to set young children up for success.

How You’ll Take Action
  • Spend your days playing, singing, reading, writing, counting, and building relationships with babies and toddlers.
  • Build strengths-based, supportive, and caring relationships with caregivers of babies and toddlers.
  • Commit to your own growth as a tutor through coaching, training, and professional development.
  • Represent Early Learning Corps at school events and share your experience with the community to raise awareness.
  • This position will be working in a childcare center geared towards young children. While we provide reasonable accommodations upon request, we want you to be aware of what this might look like:
  • Sitting, squatting, or kneeling on the floor to interact with children
  • Small children wanting you to pick them up, carry them, to sit on your lap, or otherwise be physically close
  • Supporting toddlers who are learning healthy boundaries and how to appropriately express their feelings

It Starts with a Passion

Anyone can become an Early Learning Partner as long as they have a passion to make a difference — and meet the following minimum qualifications.

By the time they begin their service, our members are:

  • Dependable and have a history of good attendance.
  • Able to understand and follow instructions.
  • Sitting, squatting, or kneeling on the floor to interact with children
  • Open to making improvements based on feedback.
  • Energized by young learners and helping them discover new things.
  • Eager to work collaboratively with the classroom teaching team.
  • Competent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online).
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.*
  • Able to successfully complete a background check.
  • Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve in our programs at this time. DACA applicants may be eligible for Americorps VISTA programs. For more information, click here.

Compensation & Perks Package:

While you’re making a difference, you’ll receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks and additional perks! As an AmeriCorps program we have both federally provided benefits and program specific benefits.

Federal Benefits include:

  • Up to $5176.50 in Education Award
  • Segal AmeriCorps Education Award* which can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ at the start of their service term may gift their award to a family member. Click Here for more information.
  • Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment.
  • Time accrual toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Program Specific Benefits by hours commitment per week

35 Hours
  • $1000 stipend paid every two weeks.
  • Individual health insurance — monthly premium 100% covered.
  • Child care assistance — based on family size and income.
25 Hours
  • $750 stipend paid every two weeks.

Started in 2003, Early Learning Corps has helped more than 115,000 children build early literacy and numeracy skills and get ready for Kindergarten.
