Basic Function

The C&I Project Developer serves as a member of the Cambrian team and is responsible for executing the sales plan, customer prospecting, project development, deal closure, and pipeline growth. In this position, the C&I Project Developer will develop Water Energy Purchase Agreement (WEPA) projects in the United States.

This role will report to the Vice President of Sales and work collaboratively with engineering, finance, delivery, and field operations leadership to ensure financial goals are met while uncompromising to company values and a culture of teamwork and positivity.

The ideal candidate will be solutions-oriented, efficient, and resourceful, demonstrating a comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make empowered decisions. They will also be adept at leading project execution, ensuring that objectives are met while fostering collaboration and innovation within the team.

Typical Duties
  • Create and carry out sales plans to attract new clients and manage relationships, focusing on growth in water and energy projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current clients to uncover business opportunities, using a consultative approach to ensure a steady sales pipeline and lasting partnerships.
  • Work with the Cambrian delivery and finances teams to develop proposals that address client’s economic and business objectives
  • Create and execute sales plans, including prospecting, client development, relationship management, and sales
  • Coordinate team assembly and oversight to drive effective project execution
  • Prospect, develop, and execute sales targets at all stages and orchestrate compelling interactions with prospective and existing clients
  • Cultivate existing client relationships and evolve them into business opportunities and client partnerships that ensure a healthy pipeline for the company
  • Collect client information, local incentives, and other materials impacting project economics to assist Process Engineering in developing the business case.
  • Work with Engineering, Project Delivery, Operations, and Finance teams to develop economic models
  • Create long-term client partnerships by understanding clients' needs and business realities, whether clearly expressed or not, identified through a genuine consultative and problem-solving approach
  • Manage a sales portfolio, pipeline metrics, analytics, and company CRM
  • Remain current on industry and market trends and developments while continuously learning about Cambrian, its vision, culture, and people
  • Identify critical stakeholders and competitors within these channels/segments and characterize their strategic focus
  • Engage with stakeholders to foster relationships and ensure requirement and benefit realization
  • Control budget and schedule to keep projects on track and within scope
  • Ensure external authority compliance throughout project execution
  • Develop planning strategies that align with business goals
  • Implement risk and issue management practices to mitigate challenges
  • Oversee stage-gate governance processes to ensure project milestones are met
  • Lead front-end engineering design efforts to optimize project outcomes
  • Negotiate commercial terms effectively to support business objectives
  • Manage change successfully within project parameters and team dynamics
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years in infrastructure development, project development (Solar PPA/Water DBOO/RNG desirable), business development, and/or consulting experience required
  • Experience in commercial and industrial sales, particularly complex B2B sales and business development
  • Excellent prospective skills including active listening, relationship building and knowledge of common industrial and commercial needs around utilities
  • Understanding of project finance and economic modeling, including calculation of basic project returns including NPV and IRR for distributed assets
  • Working knowledge of RFS/RINs/LCFS/Federal ITC
  • Advanced experience and competence in the use of CRM systems
  • Thrives in dynamic and challenging environments while focusing on stakeholder engagement and project success.
  • Efficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with water treatment systems and water reuse solutions
  • Experience with anaerobic solids digestion, biogas processing, and upgrading systems
