Staff Accountant

North Port Behavioral Health, located in North Port, Florida, is a premier provider of mental health and co-occurring addiction treatment services. Our Staff Accountant is responsible for the coordination and support of the accounting processes.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Review AP invoices for accuracy and approval, entering them into accounting system, and processing them in a timely manner
- Enters and processes data into payroll system by established deadlines.
- Maintain records of invoices, purchase order, and approvals for AP.assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability or other financial activities within the facility.
- Prepare and examine financial reports to ensure the records are accurate and timely.
- Reconciles and researches financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Handles employee inquiries about payroll and resolves discrepancies.
- Communicates with vendors regarding payment status, invoice requests, and inquires.
- Prepare month end journal entries and GL account reconciliations within established time frame and assist with month end closing.
- Provides supporting documentation for audits.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- Two years’ accounting experience in a healthcare setting required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
- Detail oriented and strong organizational skills needed.
