The Suicide Mortality Review Committee is seeking a 4 5-month contractor to serve as an Environmental Analyst to conduct a state-wide needs assessment for the Suicide Mortality Review Board (SMR).
This is a new initiative through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) and the VA and in conjunction with the Governors Challenge to Prevent Suicide Among Service Members, Veterans and their Families.
The SMR will bring together experts to review suicide deaths and identify potential public health interventions for suicide prevention across the state.
Identifies gaps in prevention services and recommends solutions to bridge gaps in services.
Assesses the needs of residents of the Commonwealth with a special emphasis on disproportionately affected populations by suicide.
Coordinates with private, local, state and federal agencies and others to gather information on suicide prevention services.

The Environmental Analyst will survey the states current suicide prevention landscape and identify key partners needed at the table to enhance collaboration of SMR efforts across state agencies.
Specific Responsibilities: Compiles data on current suicide prevention services across the Commonwealth.
Creates reports and presentations on current suicide prevention services and resources.Identifies gaps in prevention services and recommends solutions to bridge gaps in services.
Assesses the needs of residents of the Commonwealth with a special emphasis on disproportionately affected populations by suicide.
Coordinates with private, local, state and federal agencies and others to gather information on suicide prevention services.
Reports out and disseminates needs assessment findings to state agencies working in suicide prevention.
Qualifications and Skills:- Must have a minimum 5 years relevant work experience; Masters Degree preferred.
- Strong strategic planning, needs assessment, and analysis skills required.
- Knowledge and experience in suicide prevention preferred.
- Must-have strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
- Must be able to work independently but also as part of a team.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills a must.
