Assistant Controller - Leesburg

We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team in Leesburg, Florida. The chosen candidate will be a critical part of our engineering firm, leveraging their knowledge of construction accounting and financial operations. This role is a key opportunity for someone with a CPA designation and a strong background in construction accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Collaborate with the Controller to analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making
• Apply in-depth knowledge of construction accounting principles to manage project accounting, including job costing, revenue recognition, and WIP analysis
• Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate and timely project financial reporting
• Contribute to the development and monitoring of annual budgets
• Support the Controller in preparing financial forecasts and variance analyses
• Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information
• Stay updated with changes in accounting standards and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
• Serve as a key contact for external auditors during annual audits
• Prepare necessary documentation and schedules for audit purposes
• Collaborate with other departments, including operations and procurement, to gather and analyze financial data
• Provide guidance and support to accounting staff

• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in an accounting or finance role
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required
• Expertise in Construction Accounting is crucial
• Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
• Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
• High attention to detail and accuracy in preparing financial reports
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding company financial regulations.
