Cost Accountant
We're seeking a Cost Accountant to join our expanding FTEP practice.
This full-time position with Robert Half's Full-Time Engagement Professionals Practice provides opportunities to participate in various accounting and finance projects, from interim roles like reconciliation and audit prep to process improvement projects.

The Cost Accountant uses cost analysis, reporting, and budgeting to support decision making. Responsibilities include inventory management, compliance, and continuous improvement in cost management.
Key Duties:
- Cost Analysis: Analyze costs, and prepare management reports.
- Budgeting: Assist in budget creation, cost-saving, and expense monitoring.
- Inventory Management: Maintain records and reconcile physical counts.
- Product Costing: Determine manufacturing costs and pricing.
- Cost Allocation: Develop methods for indirect cost allocation.
- Compliance: Assist in audits and ensure adherence to accounting standards.
- Improvements: Identify enhancement opportunities for cost management.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Establishing/updating raw material, packaging, WIP, and FG items' standard costs
- Developing production formulas (BOMs), labor models, and conducting monthly cost rolls/update
- Analyzing actual vs standard manufacturing costs
- Initiating key metrics to aid operational decisions
- Conducting cost analysis to support strategic decisions
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries
- Managing physical inventory counts, analyzing inventory valuations
- Collaborating with operations and finance personnel for process improvements
- Using ERP, accounting, AP, auditing, cash activity, and annual standard cost skills to comply with accounting standards and company policies.
- Must possess a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst or similar role within the Food & Food Processing industry
- Solid understanding and experience with accounting and financial operations
- Proficient in ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) processes
- Strong knowledge of accounting functions and standards
- Experience in Auditing and Cash Activity management
- Familiarity with Annual Standard Cost practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy in work output
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
