Recreation Supervisor

Essential Function

The Recreation Supervisor will oversee the daily activities, reporting, training, and operations of the Sports and Recreation Leagues, programs, and events to provide quality customer service to members, guests, and visitors. The Recreation Supervisor will also work closely with the Fitness & Recreation Manager in the strategic planning and direction of the Sports and Recreation Leagues program, including promotion, recruitment, retention, communications and tracking, sales & marketing initiatives, and facility space usage by groups.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Give oversight to the day-to-day operations of the Sports and Recreation Leagues programs and facilities, including timely and accurate recordkeeping and other reporting as required.
  • Coordinate the Sports and Recreation Leagues programming, coordinate scheduling with other departments to avoid conflicts with existing Corps programming, enter programming into the CCMS system, and maintain proper facility capacity.
  • Develop detailed, realistic, and comprehensive league plans and schedules that support organizational objectives. Effectively allocate time and resources.
  • Establish working objectives for volunteers that will assist in Sports and Recreation Leagues programs and facilities, and work with the Volunteers Services Manager on the scheduling and specific duties for volunteers.
  • Serve as a community liaison between the Kroc Center and community groups, explicitly related to Recreation programs, as directed by the leadership staff.
  • Work closely with the Marketing department on promoting Sports and Recreation Leagues programs to maintain good public relations.
  • Submit usage agreements for outside groups and private instructors to the Fitness & Recreation Manager for approval. Be willing to answer questions and give tours to prospective groups and individuals.
  • In collaboration with the Fitness & Recreation Manager, develop and enforce protocols that safeguard all facilities, supplies, and equipment related to the Sports and Recreation Leagues programs and facilities.
  • Maintain clear communication channels with staff, volunteers, and program participants.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report all harmful problems with facilities.
  • Ensure that liability injuries are reported timely and according to the procedure.
-Attend all scheduled staff meetings and leadership team meetings, working to coordinate activities with the other on-site supervisors/managers/directors.
  • Process all staff evaluations promptly with assistance from the Fitness & Recreation Manager and Kroc HR.
  • Ensure Sports and Recreation Leagues staff maintains current required certifications.
  • Review all reports assigned by the Fitness & Recreation Manager.
  • Transport program participants using a Salvation Army vehicle to league competitions, various SA programs, and events, as needed.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Must have at least three years prior relevant work experience, preferably in basketball coaching/ training.
  • Prior teaching and coaching experience in athletics is also required. Tournament organization, sports team management, and experience are desirable.
-Must demonstrate leadership skills and problem-solving capabilities and always maintain a positive attitude while interacting with Kroc employees, guests, and the public.
  • Must demonstrate a passionate desire to contribute to the ongoing development of innovative and excellent fitness, wellness, and athletic programs offered at the Camden Kroc Center.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills and provide direction.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.) and be proficient in other related applications (i.e. CCMS, CommunityConnects, etc.).
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED preferred.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and be approved to drive Salvation Army vehicles.
  • Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.

Expected hours: No more than 29 per week
