Principle Technical Sales Engineer – Refining and Petrochemicals

There is an immediate career opportunity available for a Principle Technical Sales Engineer in the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) Technology Sales Group within our Petrochemicals and Refining Technologies (PRT) organization located in Des Plaines, IL.

This position is aligned with the FCC based platform of technologies, which includes accountabilities in refining, petrochemical and renewables technologies. The primary role of this position is to provide technical sales support to PRT Sales Account Managers and UOP customers.

Accountabilities of this position include:

  • Develop innovative techno-economic solutions to customer needs for both revamp and new unit sales opportunities.
  • Attain a high level of Yield Estimating capability in the pertinent technologies and deliver yield estimates for internal and external projects.
  • Identify flow schemes which provide the most economically attractive solution for a given Sales opportunity.
  • Work with Sales to develop technical proposals, presentations, initial and subsequent drafts of the engineering and guarantee agreements, ITB review, technical support, guarantee calculation and preliminary pricing sheets.
  • Lead role at customer meetings for bid clarifications, technology updates, technical proposal review and general positioning of respective technologies.
  • Lead Project Specific Sales Strategy sessions to set and implement the sales strategy for projects.
  • Drive a right-sized approach to help Sales respond to client requests with less work-intensive products (lower cost of sales investment) sufficient to help the customer progress to the next stage of their project development.
  • Up to 40% Travel

You must have:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering
  • 10+ years’ experience in Refining and/or Petrochemicals technologies
  • 5+ years’ experience in the field of Fluid Catalytic Cracking (inside or outside of UOP)
