We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Legal Secretary located in Syracuse, New York. This role involves providing comprehensive administrative support in a legal setting, carrying out various duties for multiple attorneys, and ensuring smooth office operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage phone coverage including taking and directing messages
  • Provide backup for front desk and cover lunch breaks
  • Assist in drafting legal documents such as wills, health care proxies, powers of attorneys, and deed packages
  • Handle traffic files and litigation paperwork from summons and complaint to verification; cross-claims
  • Prepare statement of net worth for family files
  • Carry out general dictation and convert it into a word format
  • Draft transcripts of judgement and liaise with County Clerk's for filing prices
  • Ensure accurate billing and preparation of memorandums through dictation
  • Manage document scanning and organization
  • Run local errands as required, including to chase, solvay, courthouse for deposits
  • Maintain excellent client relations and provide exceptional customer service
  • Assist attorneys in various tasks to ensure efficient case management. • Possess at least one year of experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability in Client Relations and Customer Service.
  • Proven experience in assisting attorneys with case management.
  • Proficiency in using legal documentation management software and other office software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
