Operations Manager

American Systems is looking for a seasoned professional to take on a critical Operations Manager (a.k.a Chief of Staff) position to provide high-level support to the Director and senior managers within the Office of Developmental Test, Evaluation, and Assessment (DTE&A). As an office of the Undersecretary for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), DTE&A will be in the center of modernizing and evolving the Pentagon's acquisition system. Responsibilities:
As the Operations Manager for DTE&A, you will:
- Provide senior management support to the Director, DTE&A and Deputy Directors for warfare areas within DTE&A.
- Provide oversight and quality assurance to provide timely, accurate, meaningful analyses to DTE&A.
- Collaborate with the large, motivated DTE&A staff to solve challenges and address changes as they arise.
- Manage the deliverable and engagement schedule for the DTE&A team.
- Provide the key interface for DTE&A to other offices within Pentagon organizations and other external organizations.
- Provide insight and technical support to the numerous special projects and activities within the office.
- Review and provide QC for all DTE&A correspondence.
- Provide specials emphasis and oversight on all documents requiring the Director's signature including accuracy, impact, and format.
- Support Director, DTE&A and the Deputy Directors as they prepare for external engagements.
- Collect background material and talking points in support of the Director's 1-on-1 meetings with senior officials.
- Coordinate with the Director, Deputy Directors, and Action Officers on effective management and timely completion of Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS) actions.
- Consolidate and provide consistent level of content for the weekly activity report (WAR) and similar summary reports.
- Collaborate with the Director's Executive Assistant to plan and execute travel and visits to other executives.
- Performs research of complex public policy issues ranging from energy and health care to national defense and homeland security.
- Collaborates with technical staff to support continued development of the DTE&A Data Management Platform.
- Prepares policy reports and briefs of research and presents findings.
- Analyzes legislative proposals.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of existing government policies and programs (particularly T&E related) and formulates recommendations regarding strategies to achieve identified mission.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 11+ years of related work experience.
- SECRET clearance; ability to gain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Proven ability to work independently and have a high level of attention to detail.
- Must be highly organized and a proven self-starter.
- Proven ability to interact effectively with senior Pentagon uniformed and civilian leadership.
- Must be very flexible and a team player to ensure the organization requirements are always met.
- Previous experience providing COS/Ops Manager like duties.
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $91,800.00/Yr. - USD $193,200.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
