Responsibilities:

Under general directions of the Director, Imaging Services, the Registered Nurse, RN, Interventional Radiology (IR) is to provide optimum patient care utilizing nursing process. The Registered Nurse, RN, Interventional Radiology (IR) will assess, identify needs, plan and implement appropriate interventions, document, and evaluate outcomes.

The Registered Nurse, RN, Interventional Radiology (IR) will provide exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring and compassion are at the center of all we do.

The Essential Functions:

  • Fosters an environment in special procedures conducive to the development and maintenance of efficient and effective patient care delivery.
  • Prepares and assists with the preparation of patients undergoing invasive procedures including but not limited to:
  • Patient assessment
  • IV therapy
  • Administers IV, IM and PO medication as ordered by the physician, including contrast media.
  • Monitors patients receiving conscious sedation
  • Provides care/intervention in the primary recovery period
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency equipment necessary to provide safe effective patient care delivery.
  • Evaluates the patient care delivery, initiating and implementing changes needed to ensure quality patient care.
  • Assists with the implementation of inter/intra departmental education by maintaining open channels of communication.
  • Provides for patient and family education, before, during and after invasive procedure.
  • Performs necessary follow-up for recurring problems, incident reports, etc.
  • Acts as liaison between Radiology and Nursing Units.
  • Assists with the orientation of nurses, physicians, and technologists.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Associates Degree Nursing, required

1 year of Critical Care or IR nursing experience, highly preferred

Conscious Sedation experience, highly preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

Registered Nurse in PA – Licensed, Upon hire, required

BLS, required

ACLS, required
