Responsibilities:
You will play a crucial role in the design and development of utility substation Protection & Control (P&C) engineering design packages that include drawings such as one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, AC/DC Elementary diagrams, circuit schedules, logic diagrams, operating diagrams, and more.
- Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals.
- Meeting all project deadlines and supporting the processes and procedures to meet deadlines.
- Maintaining up-to-date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations and protection and control schematics for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training.
- Applying test procedures for various types of relay test equipment.
- Substation awareness and Safety consciousness.
- Aptitude to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
- Good PC skills and the ability to support testing activities as required by the project lead.
- Develop drawings and assist in the preparation of design packages using CAD/drafting skills.
- Preparing additional support documentation as needed to assist procurement, construction, and operation/maintenance of systems being designed.
- Consistently following established design standards and CAD drafting standards while assuring quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Identifying process improvement ideas and commuting ideas through appropriate management channels.
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school
- Educational experience directly related to working with [medium to high voltage] electricity.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Microsoft Office product application.
- Knowledge of test equipment and tool/wiring usage.
- Interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams; basic test skills to perform duties listed above, basic PC skills.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
