Staff Accountant

Job Opportunity: Staff Accountant

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and ready to make an impact? We're looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team! This role is vital to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our accounting records through complex clerical and bookkeeping tasks.

What You'll Do:

• Manage month-end close procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Oversee daily cash transactions across multiple bank accounts, process wires, and investigate unknown activity for potential fraud.
• Review and process payments for bills, invoices, and credit card transactions, identifying discrepancies as needed.
• Allocate expenditures to correct accounts in line with departmental procedures.
• Handle loan servicing tasks, such as monthly statement preparation, escrow management, and borrower inquiries.
• Support the CFO during audits and tax preparation by creating reconciliations and reports.
• Review accounting reports for accuracy and investigate variances.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

Education & Experience:

• Associate’s degree in Business or Accounting (or equivalent experience) required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
• Mortgage industry experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics and QuickBooks is preferred.
• Deep understanding of bookkeeping practices and accrual accounting/GAAP.
• Exceptional organizational skills with an eye for detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar software.

Work Environment:

• Remote, desk-based with prolonged periods working on a computer.
