We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join their team and support the financial management of their growing portfolio on a temp to hire basis. This position is based on site in West Los Angeles.
Position Overview:
The Property Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for a variety of properties in our portfolio. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity that offers a flexible hybrid work schedule. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in property accounting, ideally with experience using Yardi or other real estate-specific accounting software.This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain accounting records for assigned properties, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor invoices, tenant payments, and reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for property owners and senior management.
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations for each property.
- Track and report on property budgets, variances, and financial performance.
- Process and allocate tenant rent payments and ensure accurate lease and rent roll tracking.
- Coordinate with property management teams to ensure the accuracy of financial data, including rent collection, operational costs, and capital improvements.
- Assist with preparing financial statements and year-end reporting for audits and tax filings.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and industry regulations.
- Work closely with senior accountants and property managers to resolve discrepancies or financial issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in property accounting or real estate accounting.
- Strong experience with Yardi or similar real estate management software is a significant plus.
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
- Experience with accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience with residential and/or commercial property management accounting is highly desirable.
