Responsibilities:

• Write Capital Improvement Projects with responsibilities from start to finish.
• Oversee automation projects for new and existing equipment.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing for capability issues, technical improvements, and processing improvements.
• Identify improvement opportunities and use a data driven approach to quantify the improvement, develop timelines, and develop budgets.
• May provide supervision and/or technical guidance to manufacturing departments.
• Provide engineering support for equipment upgrades, machine replacements, and new equipment.
• Communicate with various departments within the corporation to obtain information and provide project updates.
• Research and evaluate new technologies as they pertain to the manufacturing process.
• Drive downtime reduction initiatives and all respective projects to sustain improvements.
• Understand and follow up on significant reoccurring equipment failures.
• Lead and/or participate in cross functional teams that focus on process improvement.
• Manage and work on various projects as requested by Automation Manager and/or Supervisor.
• Provide electrical / mechanical installation support and technical expertise during project commissioning.
• Optimize performance of automated equipment, inspection equipment, and robotic work cells.
• Created training instructions and standard operating procedures for use in equipment implementation. Assist with training as needed.
• Responsible for adherence to all Berry, industry, and/or regulatory procedures.
• Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental, and department of health requirements.
• Support other plants as needed.

Qualifications:

1. 3-5 years “Automation Engineering / Maintenance experience”.
2. Associate or Bachelor degree in discipline related to automation or equivalent work experience.
3. Individual must be “Safety and Team Oriented”, a “Good Communicator”, and possess “Project Management” skills.
4. Experience with Continuous Improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5-S, and Lean Manufacturing a plus.
5. Strong computer skills are required. CAD and SolidWorks experience a plus as well as a good understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and the ability to collect and analyze large portions of data.
6. PLC and controls experience preferred.
7. Must be technically capable to:

• Understand High and Low voltage controls.
• Understand and modify electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic prints as needed.
• Have the ability to troubleshoot systems utilizing skills associated with software, mechanical, and /or electrical methods.
