Construction Manager - Public Works

Thia project will focus on parks and recreation construction and improvement projects in Long Beach. In this dynamic role, you will oversee the daily management of high-impact projects ranging from $100K to $250M, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Budget Management: Develops and manages project budgets, ensuring projects stay within financial guidelines.
  • Risk Management: Identifies and mitigates potential risks to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Contract Management: Reviews and negotiates terms of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Quality Control: Ensures that all construction activities meet quality standards and project specifications.
  • Team Coordination: Coordinates with architects, engineers, and other construction specialists to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Safety Oversight: Implements and enforces safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the construction program, as well as individual projects typically ranging from $100K to $250M.
  • Manages daily management, reporting, communications, operations, coordination, and general administrative needs of the assigned projects.

Qualifications:

  • 7-15 years’ experience in Public Works projects.
  • Civil Engineer or Environmental Engineering background
  • Capable of managing projects from inception to construction to closeout
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Must have outstanding communication skills; interpersonal, written and verbal
  • Experience with construction field management and design
  • Proficiency in Construction Management Software like Procore, Buildertrend, or PlanGrid
  • Knowledge of Building Codes and Regulations to ensure compliance with all safety and legal standards
  • Strong Organizational Skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Problem-Solving Skills to address and resolve issues that arise during construction

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, civil e
ngineering, or a related field preferred
  • Certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are highly desirable
  • City of Long Beach experience preferred
  • Parks & Recreation facilities a plus.
  • Experience with wetlands and conservation areas a plus.
Salary Range: $150,000 to $175,000 per year.
Location: Long Beach, California.
