Overview:

Princeton University Campus Recreation seeks to improve the health and well-being of the University community through the core principles of fitness and wellness, healthy competition, lifelong skill development, and community-building. These guiding principles aim to improve the quality of life on campus and strengthen the ties between and among undergraduates, graduate students, faculty/staff, and community.

Campus Recreation provides educational and leadership opportunities through instructional programs, intramural activities, sport club teams, and student employment for diverse levels of skill and ability.

The Coordinator of Campus Recreation, Intramural Sports/Special Events/Summer Day Camp, is a 12-month full-time employee responsible for the overall administration and evaluation of the Intramural Sports Program and Special Events. This includes supervising student staff, planning and implementing various sports leagues and tournaments, as well as the management of small- and large-scale campus wide special events.

The coordinator will also serve in an administrative role during the planning and implementation of the eight-week summer day camp program. This position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Wellness/Summer Camp.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee all Intramural Sports program operations.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Intramural and Special Events Student Staff.
  • Plan and deliver robust and diverse IM Sports Program over the course of the academic year targeting undergraduate and graduate student leagues/tournaments.
  • Communicate with team captains in order to support their experience through the registration process and manage game change requests.
  • Manage the Campus Recreation Championship program for Residential Colleges and Eating Clubs
  • Routinely engage in securing feedback from participants.
  • Plan and implement various campus-wide special events throughout the year that support community building, study breaks, and lifelong health and wellbeing.
  • Actively engage in the planning and execution of the eight-week summer day camp.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training camp counselors
  • Assist with booking field trips and special events
  • Assist with securing campus facilities/fields
  • Share administrator on duty responsibilities during camp hours of operation.
  • Effectively steward departmental finances

o Track IM Staff payroll and process time sheets

o Track and process IM Forfeit Fee Deposits

o Plan and review equipment and supply expenditures.
  • Process and reconcile departmental purchasing card, travel card, purchase orders and non-purchase order payments for all IM and special event purchases in timely manner.
  • Assist with monthly and yearly financial reporting.
  • Communicate with colleagues to schedule facility usage.
  • Monitor the condition/lining of fields/spaces used for IM Sports.
  • Monitor inventory and order as necessary, all sport and other equipment/supplies to complete job responsibilities.
  • Engage in a unified team approach through the delivery of departmental wide programs and services.
  • Maintain timely internal and external communications via email, phone, etc.
  • Attend required Athletics and Campus Recreation staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Wellness/Summer Camp.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Possess a personal commitment to student development.
  • Must have the ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid/AED certified (or be certified prior to employment)
  • Preferred certification as an Instructor level to teach CPR/First Aid/AED
  • Must be knowledgeable with and abide by the NJ Youth Camp Standards (N.J.A.C. 8:25).
  • Ability to work well independently. Initiate and implement new ideas through to completion.
  • Ability to work evening, weekends, and holidays as the schedule dictates.
