Position Summary:

THE FOCUS IS YOU

We are seeking a Tax Senior Manager to join our growing team in the Great Lakes Region. While experience in the real estate industry is an asset, this role also provides the opportunity to work with internal leaders and drive growth across a variety of industries.

As a Tax Senior Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing financial information for clients, such as business and individual tax returns, with the benefit of gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in a variety of industries.

The Tax Senior Manager serves to manage client relationships and act as a liaison between overseeing/mentoring internal staff and working closely with internal leaders, to ensure high-quality work is conducted and delivered to our clients.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Regular duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage and review complex individual and business tax returns
  • Lead special projects, including tax audits, transaction structuring, and developing tax planning strategies tailored to the unique needs of clients
  • Facilitate advanced tax research, resolve complex tax issues
  • Review tax work prepared by staff and seniors, providing feedback, training, and mentorship to build a high-performing team
  • Lead multiple tax engagements from initiation to completion, ensuring efficiency, timeliness, and adherence to budget while meeting client expectations
  • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner
  • Mentor and motivate team members, fostering their growth as professionals while promoting collaboration and accountability
  • Demonstrate advanced tax technical knowledge necessary for advising clients and developing an area of expertise
  • Build and nurture external relationships to generate new client referrals
  • Uphold firm policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and ethical practices
  • Participate in client meetings and provide valuable insights
  • Support and mentor staff through hands-on training
  • Effectively delegate tasks to staff
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of staff training sessions
Supervisory responsibilities
  • Will supervise subordinate team members
Work environment
  • Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions
Physical demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required education and experience
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
  • Master’s degree in taxation is a plus
  • 8+ years in public accounting or a related field
  • Experience in working with clients across various industries including real estate industry-specific knowledge (Partnerships, Affordable Housing, HUD, MSHDA, and USDA-RD) is preferred
  • Active CPA license is required
  • Must maintain required CPE credits annually
