Afterschool Youth Program College and Career Specialist (021)

The College and Career Specialist will be responsible for mentoring and tracking a cohort of club members who matriculate in college, providing guidance for career explorations and conducting organizational networking events that support the cohort under the direct supervision of the Club Director (or any other staff as so designated by the Clubhouse Director).

This is a part-time position working 15 -20 hours a week Monday through Friday in the afternoon and evening.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify members of the cohort to participate in the College Success Initiative
  • Mentor members through matriculation, class selection, major identification, exam preparation, college life, as well as other aspects of the college experience
  • Initiate, collaborate and maintain contacts; with family member(s), schools and other organizations and institutions, as required and requested
  • Ensure tracking and measurement for all required aspects and activities of the initiative in a timely manner
  • Organize and execute annual networking events at the club and in collaboration with other MSBGC clubs to support cohort identification and connections
  • Ensure members demonstrate strong interview, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ensure a healthy, safe environment in program areas
  • Meet all deadlines when submitting requested reports timely
  • Support clubhouse initiatives and events

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • A four-year degree from a state-accredited university or college is mandatory
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in youth development and or experience working as a guidance counselor, college admissions, or career coaching with youth ages 18 – 24.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational mission
  • Additional experience with youth including, teaching, coaching, mentoring, etc.
