Medical Receptionist

We are in search of a part-time Medical Receptionist for our non-profit organization based in San Jose, California. The role involves playing a crucial part in our healthcare services, managing patient scheduling, and ensuring smooth communication between patients and healthcare professionals.

Role: Medical Receptionist
Hours: 10am-2:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Efficiently manage incoming calls from the Call Center, providing necessary information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments.
- Schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments as per patient needs and availability.
- Ensure the prompt greeting of individuals entering the lobby, ascertain the purpose of their visit, and guide them to the relevant destinations.
- Monitor and manage call hold times to prevent long waiting periods for callers.
- Relay patient questions, requests, and other messages to the relevant person or department.
- Regularly update and verify all patient demographic and insurance information to maintain accurate records.
- Regularly communicate with the supervisor about the status of operations, patient access, medical records, insurance coverage updates, and other related issues.
- Resolve patient inquiries, complaints, or concerns regarding their accounts or appointments in a timely and professional manner.
- Collect payments from patients in accordance with the organization's cash handling policies.
- Check insurance and verify eligibility information for all patients.
- Proficient knowledge of Basic Medical Terminology.
- Familiarity with Healthcare Environment and Healthcare Administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
- Proficient in using Epic Software for healthcare management.
- Experience in handling Patient Records and maintaining confidentiality.
- Prior experience in Receptionist Duties, especially in a medical setting.
- Ability to schedule and manage Patient Appointments.
- Knowledge of Patient Insurance procedures and policies.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
