SME Lead Project Engineer

Responsibilities:
The SME Lead Project Engineer will provide subject matter expert-level support to oversee project activities and apply systems engineering best practices in support of technical leadership and ensuring compliance with DHS and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) systems engineering standards.
- Apply systems engineering best practices to lead projects and associated engineering project team in support of the system acquisition and sustainment life cycle.
- Develop and prepare the final System Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) Tailoring Plan for program management staffing.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and team members to formulate, review, and execute technical requirements and engineering related task plans, studies, analyses, reports, and deliverable items as identified in the program/project SELC Tailoring Plan.
- Keep program leadership apprised of technical developments, issues and readiness to advance to SELC technical reviews.
- Ensure timely and quality delivery of products and services, mitigating risks, and executing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with DHS and CBP systems engineering standards.
- Ensure technical integrity of all technical baselines, as defined in DHS 102-01- 001, Appendix B and the CBP Program Lifecycle Process Guide.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a BS degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics and 10+ years of related experience with demonstrated experience as an industry leader.
- Strong leadership and team-building strengths.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale DoD projects and risk management processes.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience across all phases of the DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).
- Demonstrated experience with DHS 102- 01- 001, Appendix B and the CBP Program Life Cycle Process Guide.
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches, methodologies, and tools.
- Experience with systems modeling languages such as SysML, UML, UPDM, UAF, and others.
- Excellent consulting, written, and verbal communication skills to support and manage customers and clients.
- Self-directed, detail oriented, and able to coordinate and work with a dynamic team and multiple stakeholders.
- Active or ability to pass U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of CBP enterprise, mission areas, acquisition programs and projects.
- Knowledge of sensor performance and integration, communications, and information system security disciplines.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Clearance:
Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred.Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.
The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances.
The salary range for this position is - $138,000-$244,000
