The Senior Business Continuity Planner develops and maintains Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans that provide for the continuance of critical business functions during crisis situations. This position is responsible for conducting and maintaining Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and developing BCP-Business Continuity Plans with viable business continuation strategies.
The position also facilitates cross-functional project teams to establish recovery strategies that meet the requirements of business units, regulators, customers, and the enterprise. This person also leads the BC and DR tests that satisfy internal, external customer and regulatory requirements.
Proactively plans, schedules, and works in a consulting capacity with business and technology units in the development of BC and DR plans and third-party service providers.
What you’ll do:
- Determine and document overall processes, criteria, communication plans, templates, document storage, and other strategies related to BC and DR. Operationalize reviews and updates.
- Partners with IT and security stakeholders to develop and maintain cloud governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Assesses and ranks systems, applications, processes, and other items to determine what level and type of plan is required for each.
- Conducts business impact analyses for each business segment to determine critical business processes, systems and applications, and teams or individuals.
- Identifies & justifies recovery time periods and establishes recovery resource requirements.
- Facilitates the maintenance of the BIA's by the business contacts and provides reports to ensure effective communication of findings and recommendations.
- Develops BC and DR Plans: recommends recovery strategies and options and assists with the implementation of the recovery solutions.
- Ensures security, compliance and resilience of Money Gram's hybrid cloud infrastructure and services. Works with cross functional teams to develop, document, and implement cloud governance policies, procedures, and best practices to support cyber resiliency initiatives.
- Provides ongoing guidance and leadership for strategy improvements to reach desired control level (regulatory requirement, customer SLA's, etc.).
- Leads project teams, provides templates and guidance for the documentation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Administers enterprise BC and DR tools and provides training while conducting knowledge transfer regarding BC and DR best practices.
- Establishes and executes BC and DR testing methodologies and exercises to ensure completeness and adequacy of plans and training of personnel who execute them.
- Prepares metrics and reports on BC and DR readiness and communicates to leadership and stakeholders for transparency, visibility, and accountability.
- Prepares and conducts regular training for awareness and feedback with the goal of continuous improvement, relevance, and up to date preparedness. Stays current on industry trends and best practices in cyber resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
What we’re looking for:
- 7-10+ years of experience focused on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategy and delivery, including cloud-based systems and environments.
- Significant knowledge of disaster recovery, business continuity, and cyber resilience strategies and best practices.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and frameworks related to cloud security and governance (e.g., CIS Benchmarks, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for financial services industries, to include NYDFS, Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI, SEC, FCA, EBA, DORA, etc.
- Experienced in crisis management and managing emergency response teams.
- Experienced in facilitating facility-based Risk Assessment, analyzing Human, Natural and Technology threats.
- Significant technology experience/knowledge to support recovery strategy design and testing.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for financial services industries, to include HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC, OCC, and etc.
- Significant knowledge of business impact analysis methodologies.
- Experience with the MS Access application.
- Project management experience.
- Self-starter, proactive, and ability to follow through.
- Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Highly effective at communicating with cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to perform critiques of written plans, facilitate a variety of exercises.
- Ability to question the status quo, identify improvements and effectively drive change.
- Strong business acumen, and ability to analyze problems and develop and implement effective solutions.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Minimum Required: BS/BA in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology or related field or comparable work experience.
- Desired Certification: Current CBCP certification through DRII-Disaster Recovery International or BCI-Business Continuity Institute; AWS Certified Security – Specialty preferred.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) a plus

Anticipated Base Pay: $120K - 140K + participation in our annual bonus plan.
