Overview:

The Department of Politics at Princeton University seeks a Senior Research Specialist for a 12-month position to support ongoing research on race and ethnic politics and experimental methods. The research specialist will maintain their own research agenda (approximately 15 hours per week) and work on collaborative projects with faculty affiliated with the Princeton Research Lab on Politics, Race, and Experimental Methods.
In addition, the research specialist will provide mentoring and supervision of graduate and undergraduate researchers affiliated with the lab in a team-based environment. The research specialist will also help to manage data collection efforts, analyze data, and other research-related activities.

Administrative duties will include lab management and arranging invitations and travel of external speakers. Finally, the research specialist will be expected to participate in the broader intellectual life of the Politics Department at Princeton University.

Start date is on July 2025. This is initially a one-year position with the potential of renewal up to two years.

Responsibilities:

  • Research specialist's independent research projects.
  • Lab management and administrative duties
  • Analyzing data, cleaning, merging, visualization, and writing and commenting scripts.
  • Research and implement appropriate statistical and data analysis tools.
  • Work independently to find and address data and statistical issues and potential difficulties.
  • Writing articles and literature reviews.

Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL
  • Master's or professional degree
  • 1+ years work experience
  • Educational background in political science or a closely related field.
  • Candidates must have strong training in research design and quantitative methods using both R and Stata.
  • Candidates must also have experience with experimental and quasi-experimental design and analysis and experience with survey design and implementation.
PREFERRED
  • Interest and familiarity with the literature in Black politics, and race and ethnic politics more broadly.
