Practice Development Specialist

Our Practice Development team supports senior consultants and practice area leaders and facilitators, helping them to achieve desired goals and elevate market visibility. The core focus of this role is to apply knowledge of the firm’s expertise, experience, relationships, and culture to the evaluation, coordination, and execution of marketing events, speaking engagements, sponsorships, practice group meetings, and other practice specific activities -- frequently in collaboration with other members of the Marketing team.This team is also responsible for drafting qualifications packages and support promising opportunities for practice development.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Engage with members of our practices to understand the business needs of clients and the corresponding legal, policy, technical, or business solutions the firm provides to them.
- Assist with planning and facilitating practice area meetings and coordinating follow-up tasks.
- Assist with the development of pitches and proposals, including responses to formal RFPs.
- Secure and draft case descriptions, experience content, and expert biographies for the firm’s experience database/proposal generation tool.
- Collaborate with AG’s Editorial team to develop compelling marketing collateral, including website descriptions, brochures, client mailings and other public facing materials and help to ensure these materials are regularly updated.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage profile-raising events including sponsored industry events, AG hosted events, in-house presentations for clients, and professional speaking opportunities designed to enhance market visibility.
- Work closely with our research team and practice area leaders and facilitators to assist in developing practice goals and efforts that help guide and prioritize activities.
- Help identify and coordinate thought leadership opportunities for individuals and key affiliates within your aligned practices. Help identify practice specific publications best suited to reach target audiences; identify opportunities for practice specific client mailings, and work with our data, editorial, digital, and graphics teams to review analytics to help assess outcomes and future actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 4 years of substantive relevant experience required.
- An ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of substantive relevant experience.
- Prior experience in practice/business development and/or marketing required, experience in a professional services or legal setting preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Consummate collaborator and ability to work well with a team.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Attention to detail and demonstrates ability to understand and process complex material and concepts. Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and interest in learning the firm’s work.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, leadership, and diplomacy – the ability to gain consensus through influence, presence, and positive discussion is critical to success.
- Flexible and adaptable working with various personalities and across multiple time zones.
- Strong Microsoft Office capability, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Teams; experience with experience management and CRM tools a plus.
- Limited travel may be required.
