Secondary Lead Instructors (1337)
Overview:
University Instructors (UI) is seeking dynamic face-to-face Lead Instructors with a passion for supporting students in grades 6-12. In this role, under the direction of the University Instructors’ team, the Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating educational environment where children can develop their academic, social, and emotional skills.This role involves planning and delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning experience.
We are looking for middle school and high school instructors in the folloiwng content areas: Math, Foreign Language, Science, Social Studies and ELA/Reading.

Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning and participation.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Integrate technology and other innovative tools to enhance learning experiences.
- Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s)
Student Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback regarding academic performance and behavior.
- Utilize assessment data to inform instructional practices and interventions.
- Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s)
Classroom Management:
- Establish and enforce clear classroom rules and expectations to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Address and manage behavioral issues promptly and effectively.
- Create a supportive and respectful classroom culture that fosters mutual respect and cooperation.
- Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s)
Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Work closely with colleagues, including assistant teachers, special education staff, and administration, to support student learning and development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements.
- Lead or contribute to school committees, events, and initiatives as needed.
- Submit records related to attendance, student progress, and other UI program requirements on time.
- Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s)
- Attend evening, virtual ILC meetings
Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Math, Science, Social Science or a related field
- Must meet the Content Knowledge standards required for a provisional teaching license; valid teaching certification in education preferred;
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and elementary education best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
Qualifications:
Education and Work Experience:
As a successful applicant, you must have a passion for helping students succeed. Additionally, you will need to have the following:
- Be eligible for a provisional state teaching license in the state of Virginia
- Be local to the area
- Three years of experience leading Secondary instruction in one or more of the following subjects:
Math, Foreign Language, Science, Social Studies and ELA/Reading.
Compensation:
$35-40/hour
