Overview:
The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for the performance of large and complex boundary, topographic, hydrographic and construction surveys. The Survey Crew Chief provides recommendations for boundary determinations to the Land Surveyor. In off seasons, must be able to function as a CADD technician.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other:
- Supervises, plans and organizes survey effort for large and complex surveys ensuring adequate equipment and staffing to perform work an efficient manner and on schedule.
- Verifies that all permits, permissions and support services to perform work are in place.
- Coordinates with the client in locating all evidence of boundary, pertinent features and improvements that must be located for the project.
- Locates all evidence of prior use of the site, wetlands, water bodies and watercourses.
- Makes a daily and photographic record of all field work performed and crew interactions.
- Supervises Survey/Sr. Survey Technicians as necessary; maintains crew safety standards.
- Ensures the security, careful handling and proper maintenance of all survey equipment.
- Processes field data, supervises and conducts file maintenance for survey records and deed and map research, and provides work-hour estimates for survey assignments to support proposals and negotiations.
- Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs and create and revise production drawings.
- Deploys knowledge of various engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to sketch rough and final layouts and completed drawings.
- Maintains an organized file system for Production Drawings.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 - 9 years of experience.
- Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
