Responsibilities:
Summary:
This unarmed position oversees and maintains custody, care, and control of federal detainees while in the custody of the United States Marshals Service (USMS) and enforces the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Company and client.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Provides custody services in accordance with this job description and under the direction of a supervisory Deputy US Marshal, Cellblock Deputy in-charge or direct supervisor.
- Secures custody of any federal, state, or local detainees from the time they are accepted into the custody of the USMS or its designee until they are properly removed from custody by an authorized official.
- Maintains continuous observation of detainees. In the event of an escape or attempted escape, immediately notifies the Supervisory Deputy US Marshal, Cellblock Deputy in-charge or direct supervisor.
- Ensures that weapons are properly secured in a safe place to prevent theft, tampering, or misuse when not being carried.
- Notifies the USMS Deputy in-charge or direct supervisor when leaving a post including for meals or breaks.
- Treats all information or records on detainees as confidential and does not divulge it to anyone except as otherwise provided by USMS policies and procedures.
- Provides security within the USMS district office cellblock including monitoring all detainees and patrolling the areas adjacent to the cellblock. Assists in the search, secure, and sweep cellblock and court room cells.
- Escorts detainees to and from cells, interviews, screenings, transports and processing rooms and courts.
- Oversees and monitors the activities of the detainees’ attorney visitation areas, detainee searches/pat-downs, the application and removal of restrains, securing and processing of detainees in the cellblock, court room holding cells, meal distribution and sally port.
- Coordinates and monitors detainee or detainee movements, counts and provides emergency response as needed.
- Conducts shakedown for contraband materials either individually or as part of a specialized team. Confiscates contraband in accordance to facility and contracting agency policies and procedures.
- Initiates disciplinary reports on detainees as necessary.
- Prepares reports and maintains daily logs as required.
- Ensures prompt and appropriate assistance to detainees or detainees in the event of injury, illness or trauma.
- Maintains proper care and custody of government property and property of others.
- Promotes facility cleanliness and reports need for maintenance or repairs.
- Completes training courses as required by facility training standards.
- Refrains from neglecting duties by sleeping on duty, unreasonable delaying or failing to carry out assigned tasks, conducting personal affairs during duty hours, and refusing to render assistance in upholding the integrity of the work site security.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License and good driving record in the state in which the position functions.
- Must be able to successfully adjudicate a federal background investigation for employment.
- Must be able to report to assigned location at required times. Must demonstrate courtesy and good manners.
- Must be able to comply with all USMS security procedures, protocols, and regulations.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of personal and moral conduct.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Pay: Pay USD $22.26/Hr.
