Sr. Inventory Accountant

We are in search of a Sr. Inventory Accountant to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee. The role will require the successful candidate to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of inventory-related financial processes within our organization. This is a crucial role within our Merchandise Accounting organization, and the successful candidate will be involved in various tasks related to inventory valuation, risk assessments, and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular reconciliation of distribution centers' perpetual inventory accounts to the General Ledger and resolve any significant variances.
- Oversee the DC inventory cycle count program, including weekly reconciliations, journal entries, and miscellaneous reporting.
- Review weekly DC rollforwards and other inventory sourcing reports.
- Update and maintain processes and SOX documentation regularly.
- Identify and rectify process/system gaps leading to non-compliance by researching the cause for variation and leading projects for implementation and correction.
- Prepare complex journal entries requiring strong accounting skills and data management to ensure financial reporting aligns with GAAP and company policies.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analyze accounts for compliance with basic and complex accounting and valuation concepts.
- Collaborate with Loss Prevention, Merchandising, and Supply Chain teams to monitor shrink results (DC), improve processes, and evaluate the value of merchandise.
- Work closely with IT to resolve and monitor various open items.
- Provide guidance to international inventory teams as needed.
- Facilitate internal and external audit requests. • Must possess skills in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations.
- Experience with General Ledger activities and Journal Entries is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Experience with Month End Close procedures is required.
- Knowledge of NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, SAP ERP, S/4HANA, and SAP S/4HANA is necessary.
- Experience with Annual Inventory is a must.
- The candidate should hold a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in a senior position, is required.
