Parish Engagement Coordinator (Part -Time)

Position Summary:

The Parish Engagement Coordinator leads the post abortion healing ministry, Project Rachel and works to create the capacity within every Catholic parish to assist pregnant and parenting mothers and their families by accompanying them on their parenting journey.

The Parish Engagement Coordinator oversees a portfolio of faith partners and steward's relationships key to raising awareness of CCWM’s programs, cultivating resources such as volunteers, in-kind donations, and philanthropic revenue. The Parish Engagement Coordinator provides coordination, advocacy and support to meet the needs of agency programming while servings as a liaison for faith based partners.

  • Wage Range: $20.68/hour - $24.80/hour
  • Part-time Position at 28 hours per week

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:

Leads post-abortive ministry; Project Rachel.
  • Acts as primary coordinator and liaison for Project Rachel activities in the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
  • Answers calls and emails to both women and men and accompanies them in their healing journey through Project Rachel's integrated approach with the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Creates awareness of Project Rachel services, retreats, and training events across the expanse of the Diocese.
  • Creates and maintains confidential referral list of trained clergy and counselors.
  • Works to ensure diversity in the language and cultural representations of Project Rachel services.
  • Organizes training opportunities for those wishing to serve as clergy, counselor or lay volunteers.
  • Coordinates Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat weekend, twice yearly.
  • Creates and updates literature with the assistance of agency marketing coordinator.

Walking with Moms in Need:

Walking with Moms in Need (WWMIN) is an initiative of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and creates the capacity within every Catholic parish to assist pregnant and parenting mothers and their families by accompanying them on their parenting journey.

  • Leads the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Walking with Moms in Need initiative for the Diocese of Grand Rapids (GR).Acts as the primary liaison both supporting and propagating the initiative for the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
  • Coordinates training for parishes seeking to launch WWMIN initiatives.
  • Updates and maintains a database of parishes and their WWMIN initiatives.
  • Assists with developing relationships and collaborating with Catholic parishes, organizations, offices, and other state and national pro-life organizations.

Parish Engagement:

  • Assists the Director Development and Community Outreach with identifying faith-based partnerships to support the day-to-day operations within agency programs.
  • Represents the agency's programs to existing and potential faith-based partners.
  • Collaborates with agency staff to identify program needs and areas of growth supported by potential faith-based partnerships.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates faith-based partnership recruitment strategies, and assists in on-going recruitment efforts to increase volunteer and parish engagement.
  • Participates in conferences, trainings, and conversations with faith-based partners to expand agency presence in faith-based communities.
  • Develops new parish engagement strategies informed by data to achieve goals in support of community outreach programming.
  • Maintains on-going communication with faith-based partners.
  • Submits timely reports to the Director of Development and Community Outreach regarding faith-based partner activities, levels of participation, and areas for potential growth.
  • Establish and maintain a professional presence and working relationship with the Development Committee and the Board of Directors.

General:

  • Attends ministry fairs and other community events.
  • Collaborates with other diocesan directors /coordinators in the state of Michigan.
  • Creates newsletter, surveys, prints, and other computer based functions of the role.
  • Drives for Agency business.
  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of or experience in the pro-life work of the Catholic Church.
  • Candidates must be a practicing Roman Catholic with knowledge of the structure, institutions, teachings and practices of the Catholic Church.
  • Conversant in or willing to enhance knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Possesses efficient public speaking skills.
  • Ability to develop and organize training.
  • Ability to collaborate and establish partnerships.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Possess strong written and verbal skills.
  • Possesses strong relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient with standard office operating software such as Microsoft Office Suite.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, good driving record with no restrictions, and personal auto insurance as required by law.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must submit to Agency approved background checks.

Recommended Employment Qualifications:

Education:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Theology, Pastoral Studies or related field is preferred, however, not required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year working at the parish or diocesan level is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of public speaking experience is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
