Responsibilities:
Job Summary
The anesthesia technician assists the resident, Certified Nurse Anesthetist, and anesthesia physician to maintain proper anesthesia supplies , equipment, and the functioning of that equipment. This position also requires knowledge of the functioning of all equipment used in the anesthesia department and also the trouble shooting of this equipment.Examples of this equipment are: anesthesia machines, video towers for difficult intubation, monitoring equipment, etc. Daily duties will include assisting with the turnover of rooms. The anesthesia technician must work with residents, physicians, nurses, and materials management to provide proper and cost-effective supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Broad knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year’s experience in hospital setting (operating room preferred).
- Graduate of an anesthesia technician program.
- Anesthesia tech or EMT experience.
