Position Summary:
The Groundskeeper is responsible for the overall maintenance and care of the exterior landscapes and grounds of assigned properties. The Groundskeeper will also handle seasonal duties like snow removal, soil preparation, and planting. They must operate various tools and equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, power washers, and snow removal machinery.

Additionally, the Groundskeeper will perform minor repairs, painting, and support other maintenance tasks as needed. This position requires a commitment to ensuring the grounds are attractive, clean, and safe for all visitors and residents.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Daily trash pickup at Lawton and Humbolt exterior properties
  • Sweep parking lot curb lines in front of main entrance
  • Power wash paver bricks and entry areas
  • Weed control in shrub/flower beds
  • Lawn edging with edging machine
  • Window washing of the interior and exterior weather permitted
  • Lawn trimming with gas trimmer in all areas of both properties
  • Interior courtyard grass cutting and lawn trimming on both properties
  • Tree trimming with both the hand saw and gas chain saw
  • Trim the bushes and hedges with the electric or gas trimmer and perform cleanup
  • Exterior and interior painting
  • Prepare soil and fertilize for seasonal flower planting and watering
  • Sweep and power wash the loading dock truck well and equipment
  • Lay down grass seed and fertilize for salt burned lawn areas
  • Spray control agents in sidewalk cracks and other visual areas for weeds
  • Responsible for weed control behind the warehouse and communicate overgrowth
  • Operate snow removal tools and equipment to clear sidewalks and drives
  • Complete interior floor buffing and waxing
  • Support housekeeping with cleaning and trash removal
  • Keep Lawton maintenance shop clean and orderly
  • Exercise Lawton emergency generator once a week for 10 minutes and log
  • Utilize company vehicle for procurement of goods or services
  • Respond to emergency calls in and outside of business hours
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team and individual setting
  • TB test and police clearance
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Computer Skills:

  • Basic computer skills required

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Complete Safe From Harm training within 30 days of employment, and keep current as needed
  • Valid Michigan Chauffeur License and approved by The Salvation Army MVR
