Overview:

Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of an Operations Manager. The selected individual will join a collaborative team environment where they will provide expertise and guidance to the client leadership and team.

The Operations Manager plays a key role in client relations. Key to the success of this position is the successful delivery of projects and effective communication to all levels of staff for reporting project status.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise technical teams to maintain reliable and available IT infrastructure and services.
  • Establish operational objectives and assignments, and delegating assignments to subordinate managers and staff.
  • Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Manage / oversee the following:
  • Monitor and report software vendor release cycles/patch alerts, and deploy / manage all patches and provide Software Deployment Reports.
  • Maintain operating systems and images to their current patch release.
  • Fulfill software lifecycle refreshes (OS/Firmware/software patching) in accordance with SLAs.
  • Provide oversight and review of the patch management process, to include test and evaluate patches for compatibility with current baseline, resolve any conflicts prior to deployment and .requested patch and security update status reports
  • Monitor, report, and remediate all deployment failures within 24 hours.
  • Author and maintain SOPs, policies, and appropriate patch/security documentation including policies detailing patch and security update processes and procedures.
  • Conduct analysis and testing of the impact of client-wide data center infrastructure or software upgrades on the applications and support system administrators during the upgrades.
  • Monitor system performance as needed to ensure optimal application development performance.
  • Coordinate with other contractors/software developers on the deployment of code.
  • Maintain current data on all corrective maintenance (including security); adaptive maintenance; preventative maintenance; and minor, minimally additive maintenance activities.
  • Configure and tune databases; set up user connections with databases; deploy and configure web services and connectivity to other systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to application developers and end users to connect client software to databases, develop SQL and shell scripts; import and export schemas; answer database questions; kill processes and threads; and migrate data from one database or schema to another.
  • Image, set up, and deploy/install Government purchased desktop and laptop computers, tablets, portable storage devices, peripherals, and multi-user systems.
  • Unpack, install, and configure hardware using client-approved software images, providing the appropriate level of support.
  • Install and configure computer peripherals.
  • Manage Replacement / replaced Equipment:
  • Mark as obsolete or remove item from IT asset management tool before handing off for surplus.
  • Digitally sanitize former equipment and return to the client property custodian for accountability.
  • Encryption/Security:
  • Support activities related to maintaining compliance with client regulation for encryption of devices.
  • Ensure all laptops and mobile devices are secured using current accepted FIPS standards,and devices that contain PII/PHI or sensitive information are encrypted using accepted FIPS standard validated cryptography.
  • Repairs: Coordinate repairs (to include mobile devices), maintain an inventory of commonly used parts and tools, and remove and account for any federal property.
  • Mobile Devices:
  • Install and configure mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, and other devices as approved by the client), cellular mobile broadband cards, and integrated mobile broadband chipsets in laptops.
  • Conduct one-on-one training regarding using mobile devices.
  • Assist with device configuration settings.
  • Ensure devices comply with Federal and client-related mobile computing policies. Report violations via email to the ISSO.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology Management or Engineering or related Or Four years of related experience may be substituted for the education degree requirement
  • Minimum 7 years supervising technical teams to maintain reliable and available IT infrastructure and services.
  • Experience establishing operational objectives and assignments, and delegating assignments to subordinate managers and staff.
  • Experience working on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with Government representatives both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Able to work independently.
