Our client, a prestigious AmLaw 50 international law firm, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join its internationally recognized Cyber, Privacy & AI Practice Group in Washington, D.C(link removed) This team, known for its industry-leading work, has been honored by Chambers, Legal500, and Law360, including being named Law360s Cybersecurity & Privacy Practice Group of the Year(link removed) The practice provides comprehensive counsel on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI-related matters, including regulatory compliance, product development, incident response, litigation, and regulatory defense for some of the worlds most prominent companies.
Candidate Profile:
- JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record(link removed)>
- Active Bar Admission in D.C.
- 47 years of substantive experience in cyber, privacy, and AI law.
- Hands-on experience advising clients on state and federal privacy laws and conducting due diligence in M&A, financings, and commercial transactions(link removed)>
- Experience handling class action litigation and/or regulatory defense(link removed)>
- Familiarity with data-driven technologies, including AI/ML and biometrics, as well as global regulatory frameworks(link removed)>
- Knowledge of state privacy laws, HIPAA, SCA, PIPA, CIPA, ECPA, Patriot/Cloud Act, GDPR, and GLBA is a plus(link removed)>
- Prior experience defending enforcement actions by state attorneys general, FTC, OCR/HHS, SEC Cybersecurity Unit, and EU regulators is highly valued(link removed)>
- Background in incident response(link removed)>
- Large law firm experience strongly preferred(link removed)>
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on a wide range of privacy, cybersecurity, and AI-related issues, including regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and governance programs(link removed)>
- Provide strategic counsel on data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and other global regulatory frameworks.
- Assist in due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and financings, evaluating privacy and cybersecurity risks(link removed)>
- Represent clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions before the FTC, SEC, DOJ, and global regulators.
- Manage incident response efforts, including data breach investigations, regulatory notifications, ransomware negotiations, and cyberattack mitigation strategies(link removed)>
- Handle class action litigation and defend clients in high-stakes cybersecurity and AI-related lawsuits.
