Medical Records Technician

Job Summary:
We’re looking for a Medical Records Technician to join our PharmScript team within our Medical Records department. As a Medical Records Technician, you will maintainthe pharmacy-generated records used for charting purposes at long-term care facilities serviced by Pharmacy.This includes physician order sheets (POS), medication administration records (MAR) treatment administration records (TAR), as well as other forms or reports. These requests are fulfilled per the schedule and/or request.The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and is an effective communicator.
They are always a team player, eager to jump in where needed and collaborate with others to support the goals of the pharmacy and the needs of customers.
Responsibilities:
- Run detailed medications daily reports using frameworks
- Run and compile daily, weekly and monthly reports using frameworks
- Entering and processing of medication orders via the pharmacy’s operating system (ex.hand-written physician order sheets)
- Meticulously review entries with a detailed knowledge of sig codes, medical terms, and brand/generic drugs to identify any discrepancies
- Calculate and verify the correct dosage based on prescriptions
- Assist all internal and external customers in a timely manner
- Responsible for responding to all report requests to Medical Record and coordinating staff
- Complete all data field according to pharmacy procedures including use of approved abbreviations
- Comply with all local, state, and federal compliance laws such as HIPAA
- Consult with a pharmacist with prescription order verification and/or order entry concerns
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Strong knowledge of Frameworks Reporting
- Knowledge of Sig Codes, generic and brand medication knowledge, and medical terminology.
- Able to perform moderate mathematics for dosage calculations
- Must be detailed orientated
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Professional demeanor

- May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, crawl intermittently
- May be necessary to work extended hours as needed
- May lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
