Stagebuilder duties include but are not limited to:
Stage builders are competently trained personnel that construct/dismantle scaffolding in accordance with OSHA and Electric Boat policies/procedures to provide safe trade access during various phases of construction. These tasks are frequently performed by teams of two or more stage builders that utilize various pneumatic and electric tools, forklifts, aerial lifts, telehandlers and overhead cranes.
- Must qualify to wear fall protection while working at heights greater than five feet
- Must be able to lift and handle steel scaffolding, various types of lumber including planks and plywood
- Must possess basic math skills and perform layouts with measuring tools
- Must qualify to operate forklifts, overhead cranes and aerial lifts
- Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment and or work independently
- Must be able to follow directions from supervision and meet daily goals
This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid drivers license
- 3+ years experience in at least one of the following;
- Carpentry, stage building, construction
- Ability to work in restricted/confined spaces, extreme temperatures and high elevations
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
- Ability to push and pull as part of the daily routine
- Ability to read/follow scaffolding drawings and company policies/procedures
- Available to work all shifts, including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
- Ability to complete the QP safety harness training and wear a QP provided safety harness
- Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
Preferred:
- 4 plus years' carpentry or stage building experience
- Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes and aerial lifts
- Experience with fall protection
- Scaffolding experience and familiarity with Universal Scaffolding
- Experience working in the construction industry, a manufacturing environment or related trade training
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
- Military/Navy related experience
