Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the performance development of employees within in the Perianesthesia Department. Collaborates with patient care/professional and support service departments to identify performance gaps, determine the causes and measures the impact of learning and non-learning actions that are required to change performance.Learners can include employees, patients/families, community and the medical staff. The Manager/Educator position takes a leadership role in planning, designing, coordinating, conducting and evaluating educational/competency validation programs for the unit/hospital which includes orientation, employee performance development, new policy/procedure development, new technology implementation, regulatory/accreditation requirements, etc.
In addition, the clinical educator provides recommendations in the selection and hiring of new employees and participates in the development and evaluation of disciplinary performance plans for staff.
The role encompasses 24 hour direct responsibility for the supervision and management of Perianesthesia Services, including ACU, ESU, PACU and Preoperative Center, to provide direct and indirect patient care for an age specific population. In collaboration with the Director, this position shall plan, organize, direct and evaluate people and activities for the departments to ensure the delivery of high quality, cost-effective patient care.This position has fiscal responsibility for resources that are defined during the budget process and is accountable for scheduling, coordinating and maintaining the resources necessary on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. This position’s primary focus is with employees, patients, families, physicians and key contributors from other departments who impact the services of the department.
The success of the departments depends significantly on the Manager/Educator of Perianesthesia Services ability to participate well with others and/or collaborate with other managers within the Department of Nursing and the Medical Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other health related field or currently enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program.
Experience: Minimum 3 years recent experience as a practitioner of nursing care preferably within Perianesthesia Service Line or related administrative experience. One year education experience.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing. Able to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment; effectively managing, prioritizing and delegating patient care and completing work assignments and other duties, as assigned.Demonstrate knowledge of common disease process, treatment modalities and interventions. Have above average computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft office: Power Point, Word, Excel and Outlook.
License/Certifications: Current active California Registered Nurse license, Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS, Current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS, Current American Heart Association (AHA) PALS, EKG course required.
Equipment: Computers, monitors, printer, fax, photocopier, pneumatic tube system, Omnicell, telephone, IV pumps.Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.
PAY RANGE
$62.84 - $94.26
The posted pay range reflects the lowest to highest pay that was available for this position at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Salary offers are determined by candidate’s relevant experience and skills. For per diem positions, a standard rate is used based on market data and not the candidate’s individual experience.
