Short Description:
The Child Activities Assistant will provide developmentally appropriate play, stimulation, and comfort to infants, children, and adolescents based on assessed individual and group needs. The Child Activities Assistant will maintain a clean and safe play environment and will keep supplies and storage areas organized.
Responsibilities- Distributes toys, games, movies, and other activities to pediatric patients; interacts with patients in the playroom or at bedside at a developmentally appropriate level
- Cleans used/soiled toys daily according to policy; maintains a clean and safe environment in the playroom by checking toys and equipment for safe and proper functioning; records cleaning in daily logs
- Oversees use and maintenance of electronic gaming equipment in the playroom and patient rooms
- Organizes and maintains toys, supplies, and equipment in storage areas; distributes in-kind donations to patients as needed
- Documents activities and services provided within the patient’s electronic health record
- Delegates appropriate duties to volunteers as needed
Experience Required:
- 5 years experience working with children
Education Requirements:
HS diploma/GED required, Associated degree preferred in Psychology, Child Development, or other related field
License/Certification Requirements:
Skills/Qualifications
CPR-BLS preferred
Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworker
Special Requirements:
part time, 24 hours a week
