Staff Accountant
This role is 100% ONSITE.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
To be successful in this position, the Staff Accountant must be willing and be able to perform the following essential functions always:
Record monthly GAAP journal entries (i.e. prepaids, fixed assets, deferred rent, bad debt expense, routine and non-routine)
Record payroll journal entries (semi-monthly payroll, monthly accrual, taxes)
Record monthly revenue journal entries and cash postings entries
Responsible for making analytical assessments as to the disposition of entries and balances in the general ledger Monthly reconciliation of the general ledger balance sheet accounts, including locating appropriate support for entries made to accounts, analyzing balances, researching discrepancies, and preparing entries as needed
Handle full cycle month-end closes
Generate standard reporting management
Prepare reports for governmental and tax compliance Provide support for annual internal and external audits
Prepare quarterly and annual reporting
Prepare bank account reconciliation
Prepare monthly allocation and journal entries for contracted programs
Prepare monthly management analysis reports
Prepare correspondence, mailings, and priority shipments for the Accounting Department Perform periodic audits of vendor invoices
Review monthly fluctuations to all general ledger accounts Maintain files as needed within the Accounting Department
Assists with monthly budget-to-actual analysis
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned by Controller- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of two years experience in a non-profit accounting role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Experience with financial reporting and financial record-keeping.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Experience with accounting software and databases.
- Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
