Collections Clerk

You will be communicating with credit union members to resolve frequent and negative accounts promptly and minimize loss.

Responsibilities:

• Manage customer interactions regarding account conversations, making sure to keep detailed records of these discussions in the collection systems.
• Take the necessary actions to collect payments from members concerning delinquent accounts and ensure such accounts are updated.
• Conduct light skip tracing on delinquent loans and assist in the research of disputed payment records.
• Identify the root causes of financial hardships to recommend appropriate solutions, including repayment plans and extension workouts.
• Notify the Repossession Collector of delinquent auto loans deemed uncollectable.
• Report any special problem accounts to the manager to ensure the right actions are taken, such as completing loan modifications and payment extensions.
• Cross-train and provide backup to other positions in the department.
• Maintain a record of account conversations, promises, or solutions with the member in the collection systems.
• Proven experience in the Service industry
• Demonstrable competence as a Collections Clerk
• Proficiency in Consumer Collections
• Ability to handle both inbound and outbound calls
• Excellent customer service skills
• Experience in Accounts Receivable (AR)
